Why is my Brushcutter always difficult to start? Posted by : admin / Posted on : Feb 20,2026

1. Fuel System Issues

Aging Fuel: Fuel stored for too long will deteriorate, causing the Brushcutter fuel pump to become clogged or injection to be poor. It is recommended to use fresh fuel and change it regularly.

Carburetor Clogged: The carburetor is a key component for mixing air and fuel. Prolonged disuse can cause nozzle clogging. The carburetor needs to be disassembled, cleaned, or replaced.

2. Air and Ignition System Malfunctions

Clogged Air Filter: A clogged air filter can lead to insufficient air supply, an overly rich air-fuel mixture, and difficulty starting the engine. Regular cleaning or replacement of the air filter is recommended.

Spark Plug Issues: Severe carbon buildup on spark plugs or incorrect spark plug clearance can cause poor ignition. Cleaning the carbon deposits or replacing the spark plugs is necessary to ensure a clear spark from the spark plug tip.

3. Starting Device and Operation

Pull Cord Technique: Pull the starter cord quickly and forcefully. Pulling it too slowly or with insufficient force will cause the engine to spin but not move. Practice the correct starting technique.

Stuck Throttle: Check if the starter throttle is stuck or loose. Apply appropriate throttle during starting; a stuck throttle will result in insufficient fuel supply.

4. Internal Engine Wear

Insufficient Compression Ratio: Over time, wear on the cylinder walls and piston rings can lead to insufficient compression ratio. Use a compression tester to check if the compression pressure is within the normal range.

Clutch malfunction: If the clutch is stuck, it may cause excessive load on the engine during startup. It is necessary to check whether the clutch disengages properly.
